Robert "Robbie" Baldwin, better known as Speedball, is a Marvel Comics superhero. He originated in Springdale, Connecticut, possessing the power to generate kinetic energy fields around himself, causing objects to bounce harmlessly off him and allowing him to rebound off surfaces at high speeds.

Originally a lighthearted character, Speedball was a founding member of the New Warriors, a team of teenage superheroes. His powers manifested after exposure to energy from a dimensionally-linked laboratory.

Speedball's history took a dark turn during the "Civil War" event. His uncontrolled powers were involved in a catastrophic explosion that killed hundreds of civilians. Suffering immense guilt and trauma, he underwent a radical transformation into Penance.

As Penance, he wore a suit studded with internal spikes that inflicted constant pain, channeling this pain to control his enhanced, but more dangerous, kinetic abilities. He later reverted to the Speedball identity, grappling with the legacy of his actions and working towards redemption. His powers still remain linked to pain, but to a far lesser extent than the Penance suit.
